# Navigation

# Navigation

You choose which pages, views, and forms appear in navigation. Good navigation makes the product feel finished: people click where they need to go instead of only chatting.

Navigation is a **route tree**, not only a flat menu:

* **Groups** organize sidebar items (optionally collapsible).
* **Dividers** separate top-level sections.
* **Detail routes** can stay out of the sidebar but still drive **breadcrumbs** when someone drills in (for example Clients → a specific client → Posts).
* Breadcrumb links keep the right filters and IDs so going back lands on the same record.
* **Roles on navigation and on pages are both required.** A visible nav link still fails if the page’s own roles exclude the user, and hiding a nav item does not revoke page access by itself.
* Prefer **pages** (and forms) for end users. The portal sidebar shows pages and forms; **views stay in the builder** today (Preview can still open views from the builder nav).

Align navigation with roles so each audience sees the right destinations. Icons on nav items (and groups) are supported when the AI sets them.
