# Build your first app

> Create a GenieForge app from a prompt, approve a plan, try Preview, and invite end users.

# Build your first app

## Step 1 | Describe your idea

Sign in at [https://genieforge.ai](https://genieforge.ai) and create an app. In **Build mode**, describe the outcome in plain language: who uses it, what data matters, and what should happen.

You do not need to name every table or tool up front. Focus on the workflow you want.

## Step 2 | Review the plan

For larger changes, GenieForge often proposes a plan (data model, features, pages) before heavy work. Read it, ask for adjustments, then approve so the AI implements against that plan.

## Step 3 | Explore what was built

Open **App Blueprint** to see tools, pages, forms, roles, and related settings. Select a **project** to work with live data for that workspace.

Try the app with **Preview**, then **Preview as** a role, so you see what a customer would see without inviting anyone yet.

## Step 4 | Refine in chat

Stay in Build mode and ask for changes: new fields, a dashboard page, an invite flow, a weekly digest. Prefer outcomes over implementation details unless you care about a specific constraint.

Set lasting preferences under **App Blueprint → Build Rules** so they apply across Build conversations.

## Step 5 | Invite people

When ready:

1. Select the project that should hold customer data.
2. Open **End-Users** and invite by email with a **role**.
3. They accept, set a password, and sign in through the **portal** (separate from your builder login).

Or enable self-registration under **App Settings → Registration** when that fits your product.

## What you do not need to do

GenieForge hosts the app, database, portal auth, and execution environment. You should not paste database connection strings into chat. Store API keys under **App Settings → Environment Variables**.
